REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION
High Peak Theatre Trust (HPTT) are looking to apply for grant funding for capital investment into modernising the facilities within the Opera House and ensuring its long terms future. As part of this approach, the HPTT have approached the Council to extend the existing lease. The Executive Councillor considered a report which sought to gain formal approval to the surrender of the existing lease of the Buxton Opera House to High Peak theatre Trust (HPTT) and regrant of a new 30 year lease which effectively extends the term of HPTT’s occupation of Buxton Opera House.
As set out in paragraph 5 of the report.
1. That the surrender and regrant of the Buxton Opera House lease in order to extend the term for a further 30 years to approved; and
2. That the Director of Place be granted authority to negotiate the final details and instruct Legal complete the following documents:
· A deed of surrender over the existing lease with High Peak Theatre Trust
· A new lease for 30 years from 1 April 2022 based broadly on the same salient terms as the old lease
