STATEMENT OF THE REASONS FOR THE DECISION:

To provide an update to elected members on the work of the Council with regards to the Armed Forces Covenant and to recommend that the Council worked towards the Silver award of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.

ANY ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:

There were no alternative options to consider given the statutory nature of the Covenant.

DECISION:

1)    The Portfolio Holders noted the activities undertaken by the Council to comply with the Armed Forces Covenant.

2)    The Portfolio Holders approved work to be undertaken to apply for the Silver award of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and that the Council amended its Annual Leave and Time off Policy to increase from 5 to 10 days paid leave for reserve military training/
