Minutes:

STATEMENT OF THE REASONS FOR THE DECISION:

The Portfolio Holder considered an application to Arts Council England for a grant of £99,000 - to improve museum displays at the Nicholson and build upon the work in progress to renovate the Nicholson Institute through the Levelling Up Fund.

Arts Council England (ACE) has a grants programme named “Project Grants”. These grants fund arts, culture and heritage activity by organisations and individuals across England. The redevelopment of the Nicholson Museum project aligns strongly with their criteria.

ANY ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:

The bid is not essential for the LUF project to go ahead, however the smaller

budget available would not deliver as large a project and would make the aims

of the museum and art gallery business plan more difficult to achieve (pending

approval).

DECISION:

The Portfolio Holder agreed to submit a grant application to Arts Council

England for the sum of £99,000.
